Classroom Project

Each child in the classroom creates and writes one page of the book. You may want to have a working title for the book so that each child creates and writes his/her own page with the same focus. For example: The working title of a book could be…What I Want To Be When I Grow Up the Class of 2016. Each member of the class would write about and create a picture of themselves in their occupations. The teacher of the class would also do a page and as a group everyone could contribute to the design of the front, back and tip in pages of the book. The tip in pages are the backside of the front cover and first page along with the backside of the last turned page and the inside of the back cover.

Family Project

There are so many things you and your family can do. It is fun to sit around the kitchen table and share family stories. Bring out old picture albums and talk about the photographs. Have grandchildren interview their grandparents. Children love to hear stories about their own parents and grandparents when they were young. Pick one of your favorite family stories and write it down. Have different family members jot down what they remember about the story. Collect all the stories and put them together. Collect photographs, postcards, ticket stubs anything that can add to the richness of your story.
