Utterly charming and imaginative...
It's Springtime In My Back Yard is a children's book that appeals to all ages. The book tells the story of a sweet young girl and a pair of mallard ducks, Moe and Molly, that take up residence in her backyard.
The
deceptively simple story is anything but...with its complex themes of trust,
caring, and the joy of discovering nature.
The photographs are wonderfully large and clear. The illustrations splendidly typify a young child’s exuberance. Written from the little girl’s perspective, the text captures the sweet, pure joy of her various encounters with the ducks—sometimes she interacts with the pair, and at other times she is the watchful observer. The level of language is perfect for young children.
This is a book that will be read over and over, for its delightful story and photographs, as well as the heart warming feeling it creates for the reader. It’s Springtime In My Back Yard is truly a book to treasure.

Delightful...
It's Springtime In My Back Yard is a delightful story about two special spring visitors and their relationship with a child.
The joyful photographs and text written with a child’s voice come together to create a story that encourages children to make connections to their own lives and the stories that they possess. In addition, the illustrations provide another level of connection for young readers... What child doesn’t love creating with water colors?
This will make a wonderful read-aloud and beginning reader for my first grade students. I look forward to sharing It’s Springtime In My Back Yard with them and witnessing the dialogue this sweet story is sure to encourage.
